Rotator Control Update Package (26-Jul-07)
------------------------------------------

This package consists of a replacement AcquireSupport.wsc and
RotControl.exe. Together they provide two new options for guiding
with a rotator: flip and mirror. Rather than coupling the guiding
polarity to the rotator "refverse" option (which was wrong in
some cases), you now have independent control over X and Y
guiding polarity.

INSTALLATION: Replace AcquireSupport.wsc and RotControl.exe in
the ACP installation folder with the ones in this zip file. DON'T
DO ANYTHING TRICKY LIKE RENAMING THE OLD ONES. Just replace them.

The new controls are on the bottom of the Rotator Controller
application.

USAGE: To discover what the correct settings are for mirror and
flip, do the following experiments:

(1) Calibrate the guider as described in ACP Help, Autoguiding
your Mount, Calibrating the Guider. I recommend you use the
CalibrateGuider.vbs script!

(2) Hand start Rotator Controller applet and LEAVE IT RUNNING.
It's in the Start menu, ACP Obs Control section.

(3) Make a plan for PA of zero. It doesn't matter a hoot if there
is anything interesting in the main image. Just use the FOVI to
capture some random location in the sky with a good guide star on
the guide chip at a PA OF ZERO. Make the exposure long enough to
get some guiding guiding time (5 minutes).

(4) Run the plan. If guiding works, leave Mirror alone, otherwise
(star runs off the guidechip) toggle Mirror and try again. This time
it should work fine.

(5) Now make a plan for a PA OF 90 DEGREES like you did in (2).

(6) Run the PA=90 plan. If guiding works, leave Flip alone, otherwise
(star runs off the guidechip) toggle Flip and try again. This time
it should work fine.

Please report your experiences on the ACP section of the Comm Center.
